Overview
A set of two uncirculated banknotes of the Banque Centrale de Mauritanie – 1000 Ouguiya (2014) and 500 Ouguiya (2013). The notes carry Arabic and French text with traditional Moorish ornamental patterns on the fronts, and the backs show Mauritanian life: a camel and a thatched hut, and iron-ore mining and harvesting. Together the two notes carry a face value of 1,500 Ouguiya (old Ouguiya series).

- Front: Arabic text “Al-Bank Al-Markazi Al-Muritani” beside a red and grey traditional geometric ornament, with a hologram window and the large figure 1000, on a blue-grey note
- Back: A camel resting beside a round thatched hut and a stone tower, with a fish basket motif, on a blue note

2. 500 Ouguiya – 28 November 2013
- Front: Arabic text “Al-Bank Al-Markazi Al-Muritani” beside a red and grey diamond ornament, with the large figure 500, on a green note
- Back: An iron-ore loading plant beside harvesters cutting grass inside a decorative frame, on a green note
- Serial Number: CB 5228465 A
Collector Value:
Notes of the old Mauritanian Ouguiya (replaced in 2018 by the new Ouguiya at a ratio of 10 to 1) – now a closed series and a good pair for an African and Arab-world collection.
