- Obverse: Features a portrait of Rabindranath Tagore. The inscription “रवीन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर” (Rabindranath Tagore) in Hindi and “RABINDRANATH TAGORE” in English are present along the upper periphery. Below the portrait are the years “1861-2011” (his birth and the commemorative year) and “150th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY”.
- Reverse: Displays the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, with “सत्यमेव जयते” (Satyameva Jayate) inscribed below. The words “भारत” (Bharat) in Hindi and “INDIA” in English are present, along with the symbol of the Indian Rupee “₹” above the numeral “5”. “रूपये” (Rupaye) in Hindi and “RUPEES” in English are inscribed on either side of the numeral.

These commemorative coins were issued in 2011 to mark his 150th birth anniversary and to honor his immense contributions to Indian literature, art, and philosophy.
